Brick, especially when not properly secured, has a tendency to moisture absorption, which can lead to the formation of mushrooms, mold and promote development moss i alg. Impregnation of the brick surface with a hydrophobic impregnation creates a barrier that effectively repels water and prevents it from penetrating the brick structure. This works particularly effectively in the case of rain, snow and other atmospheric factors, which protects against moisture penetrating the interior of the brick.
Surface impregnation provides effective protection against various impurities. Brick is susceptible to stains from many sources such as plants, rain with dissolved soot, chemical substances or smog. Hydrophobic impregnation makes it difficult for these substances to penetrate, which helps maintain the brick surface purity and prevents damage and discoloration.
Impregnation of brick surfaces it improves it significantly durability. It acts as an additional protective layer, protecting the brick from harmful effects external factors, such as frost, UV radiation, deposition of particles from the air and various pollutants. Impregnation increases the resistance of the brick to devastation, cracks, exfoliation and erosion, which extends its life.
We cannot forget about the aspect aesthetic – the impregnated brick surface becomes more attractive. Hydrophobic coating gives the brick a more uniform, pure color and depth, protecting it from darkening caused by exposure microflora. Impregnated brick looks fresh and aesthetic for many years, which contributes to the overall visual impression of the building.
Impregnation with Specialchem Impregnation for Absorbent Ceramics, Bricks, Clinker and Roof Tiles is an investment that brings tangible benefits, combining functionality with the aesthetic appearance of your brick surface.
| Question | Odpowiedź |
|---|---|
| What is Specialchem Hydrophobic Impregnation for brick and absorbent clinker used for? | For hydrophobing absorbent ceramics: limits water absorption, impedes dirt penetration and reduces the risk of discoloration on brick and clinker surfaces. |
| What surfaces can it be used on? | For unglazed and absorbent ceramics: brick, facade brick, wall brick, absorbent clinker, selected facade tiles and unglazed ceramic tiles as well as unglazed ceramic roof tiles. |
| Can it be used on kitchen tiles and floor tiles? | Yes, but only on unglazed and absorbent tiles. The sealer usually doesn't penetrate glazed tiles, so the effect will be limited. |
| Does the product change the color of brick or clinker? | It's colorless. It may slightly alter the appearance of the surface depending on its porosity – so always test it on a small, inconspicuous area. |
| How many layers should I apply? | Typically 1 coat; on highly absorbent surfaces 2 coats. Apply the second coat wet-on-wet. |
| Is it necessary to dilute the preparation? | No. The product is ready to use and does not require dilution. |
| How to prepare the surface before impregnation? | The surface must be clean and dry. First, wash/clean (remove dust, soot, smog, and tarnish), then allow to dry completely. |
| What product do you recommend for cleaning facades or brick walls before impregnation? | For cleaning and refreshing facades/plasters and walls before impregnation, recommend SPECIALCHEM FASADA CLEAN – removes typical atmospheric dirt and facilitates proper absorption of the impregnation. |
| What are the application conditions (weather/temperature)? | Do not apply to very hot surfaces or during rain. Ensure a minimum of 3 hours of rain-free time after application. |
| What is the efficiency and consumption per m²? | As a guide, 100–150 ml/m². Consumption depends on absorbency and texture; on very porous brick it may be higher. |
| How long does protection last? | The declared durability of the effect is approximately 5 years, but the actual durability depends on exposure to weather conditions and the intensity of dirt. |
| Does the impregnation also protect the joints? | Yes, it also protects mineral joints, which helps reduce the penetration of moisture and dirt in the grout lines. |
| What won't this impregnation do? | It is not intended for removing old, deeply embedded stains. First, remove the stain with an appropriate cleaning agent, and only then proceed with impregnation. |
| Is it easier to keep the facade clean after impregnation? | Yes. The hydrophobic barrier limits dirt penetration, so subsequent washing and cleaning is simpler and usually requires less work. |
| Can I use it alongside other substrates (concrete, paving stones, paving stones) without risk? | Yes, but protect the adjacent surfaces and perform a test. The product is intended for absorbent ceramics; on concrete/pavement, impregnators specifically designed for these substrates are typically used. |
| How often should the impregnation be renewed? | Approximately every few years or when the hydrophobic effect noticeably weakens (water stops beading and soaks in faster). |
| What to do if green growth (algae) appears on the facade? | First, remove the coating with the preparation NANO-BAU ANTIALG CLEANER (cleaning green efflorescence), rinse and allow the surface to dry completely and only then proceed with impregnation. |
| What to use when white efflorescence (salt/lime) occurs? | To remove white efflorescence, recommend Specialchem KLINKIER CLEAN. Once the efflorescence has been removed and the substrate has dried, apply impregnation to prevent the problem from returning. |
| What sequence of works should I recommend to the client (the safest)? | 1) Washing/cleaning (e.g. SPECIALCHEM FASADA CLEAN), 2) removal of spot problems (green coating: NANO-BAU ANTIALG CLEANER , white efflorescence: Specialchem KLINKIER CLEAN), 3) complete drying, 4) impregnation. |
| How to remove dirt from windows, steel or adjacent elements if the preparation accidentally stains them? | The time rule applies: remove dirt as soon as possible with water and a wet cloth; protect glass and steel with foil beforehand to avoid any risk. |
In order to remove white deposits on bricks before impregnation, we recommend Specialchem KLINKIER CLEAN
To obtain the effect of wet brick and refine its appearance, we recommend Nano-Bau CLINKER WET
